Privacy Policy

Overview

Pebu is a voice-first journaling app for iOS. Privacy is not a feature - it is the foundation. This policy explains what data Pebu uses, where it lives, and what we will never do with it.

Your Voice & Journal Entries

All voice recordings, transcriptions, and journal entries you create in Pebu are stored entirely on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers, never processed in the cloud, and never accessible to us. Speech-to-text transcription runs locally using Apple's on-device speech recognition framework.

Insights & AI Features

Mood detection, pattern recognition, and the Weekly Life Tape are all generated on your device. No entry text or audio is sent to any external model or API. Your most private thoughts never leave your phone.

No Account Required

Pebu does not require you to create an account. There is no sign-in, no email address collected, and no profile stored on our servers. You are anonymous to us by design.

Face ID & Passcode Lock

If you enable the app lock feature, Pebu uses Apple's Face ID / Touch ID framework (LocalAuthentication). Your biometric data is handled entirely by iOS and is never accessible to the app or to us.

Subscription & Payments

Pebu Pro is offered as an in-app subscription through Apple's App Store. All payment processing is handled by Apple. We do not receive, store, or process any payment card details. For billing questions, refer to your Apple ID account settings.

Analytics & Crash Reporting

Pebu may collect anonymous, aggregated crash reports through Apple's standard crash reporting (if you have opted in to share analytics with app developers in your iOS settings). This data contains no journal content, no voice data, and no personally identifiable information.

We do not use advertising networks, behavioral tracking SDKs, or any third-party analytics that profiles you across apps.

iCloud Backup

If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, your journal data may be included in your personal iCloud backup alongside other app data. This backup is controlled entirely by you through your iOS Settings and is governed by Apple's iCloud privacy policy. Pebu does not initiate or manage any cloud sync independently.

Data Deletion

Because your data lives on your device, you can delete it at any time by deleting the app. There is nothing on our servers to request removal of. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@pebu.app.

Children's Privacy

Pebu is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because no account is required, there is no information collected from any user, regardless of age.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted here with an updated date. We will never introduce data collection that contradicts the on-device-first principle above without clear, upfront notice.
